'HANDS ON' BURLESQUE COSTUME DIY

If you follow me on Twitter then you know how obsessed I am with the movie 'Burlesque' {the repeated Tweets about me watching 'Burlesque every other day!} One of my favorites outfits was what you can find online under "Hands On" Burlesque Costume which is $90.00

Here is my take on this Burlesque costume!
Enjoy!

Of course you can get something similar to what I found online. Burlington Coat Factory, Ross or TJ Maxx have a great selection of inexpensive bras and shape wear!

Here's what you will need:

    DIY

  1. Long white gloves {found at any party/costume store}
  2. Hi-Waist Brief Shape wear {or something similar} *Make sure it fits like a glove you don't want to tug and pull since it is shape wear.
  3.  A {white and black} lace bra. *Preferably one with only the cups made of lace.
  4.  Long black gloves.
  5.  White boy short undies {Optional for those not wanting to wear just the Hi-Waist Brief!}
Extras and Tools Needed:
  •  Scissors
  •  Sewing Machine or Thread and Needle or someone who knows how to do either!
  •  Glitter
  •  Sequins or Sequin Fabric {Black}
  •  Fabric Glue
  •  Mod Podge and Sponge Brush {Optional if instead of sequins you want to use glitter}
  • Hairspray

Instructions:
  1. Cut along the seam of the gloves. That will open it up and create two hands sprinkle on some glitter on the black gloves and set with hairspray. *The starch in the hairspray will help keep the glitter from falling off. Buy a brand that is advertised to not leave film on hair, as a film over glitter will curb the shine.
  2. Use the fabric glue to glue on the black gloves to the bra, leaving some at the bottom to help you attach it to the Hi-Waist brief.
  3. Use the fabric glue again to glue the white gloves to the "butt" only since you want to know how they will be placed and how they will look in the front. Once you have it where you are pleased with how it looks use the fabric glue and set into place.
  4.  Now for the sequins you can place them just in the front by sewing them or sewing a piece of sequin fabric. Or like I said use glitter it's faster simply use the mod podge and glitter away like with the gloves you can set it with hairspray.
  5. Once the top and bottom look they way you want simply sew the bra to the hi-waist brief.

*You can substitute the black gloves with an old black t-shirt simply trace your hands up to your arm.

 Let me know how it goes or what is your favorite Halloween costume DIY!
